Dorothy Colburn, Teacher, Dies
Word has been received of the death of Miss Dorothy Colburn, 55, of Evanston, Illinois, a former teacher in the Lincoln Public Schools and employee of the Lincoln Journal.
Miss Colburn died Thursday of a heart attack while taking a train from Chicago to Detroit.
Born in Lincoln, Miss Colburn was a graduate of the University of Nebraska where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta.
She was society editor of The Lincoln Journal and later taught journalism in Lincoln High School.
About 20 years ago she moved to Evanston, Illinois, where she taught English in the Evanston schools. Miss Colburn retired from that position in early November.
While teaching in Evanston, she wrote several English textbooks.
Miss Colburn was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors are her cousin, Mrs. Victor Musselman of Lincoln and a sister, Mrs. Beatrice Kruger of Fort Calhoun.
Funeral and burial will be in Fort Calhoun Sunday.
