John Ignac Straka, 86, of Omaha, Nebraska, died at Bergen Mercy Hospital in Omaha Friday, October 15, 1993.
Funeral services were held Thursday, October 21 at Assumption Catholic Church of Omaha, the Rev. Fr. Paul Begley officiating. Warren Reznicek was soloist.
Interment was at Fort Calhoun Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Richard Boone, Scott Boone, Orval Albrecht, Ralph Francis, Tony LaHoda, Joe Kvapil.
He was born August 13, 1907 in Plattsmouth to Ignac and Mary Catherine (Nasel) Straka.
He graduated from Plattsmouth High School in 1926. On September 4, 1953, he married Wiilhelmina Henrichsen. She died July 10, 1970.
On August 31, 1974, he married Lorene Hanna.
An electrical engineer, he worked at the Glenn L. Martin Fort Crook Bomber Plant. He taught classes at the plant and also at the Lincoln Aeronautical Institute. He also worked at Boys Town as an electrician. He retired in 1967 after 23 years with the Strategic Air Command.
He is survived by wife Lorene of Omaha; sister-in-law Rita Nielsen of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
