Services will be held Monday, September 22, at Campbell Aman Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM followed by a service at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will follow at the Blair American Legion Hall. A private burial will be held at the German Cemetery.

When Sheila Ann Mittlieder was born on September 5, 1941, in Dupree, South Dakota, her father, Michael, was 33, and her mother, Ismay, was 23. She married Melvin Gene Kroeger on June 28, 1958, in Bennington, Nebraska. They had three children during their marriage. She had five brothers and two sisters.

Sheila was an active farm wife and stayed busy cleaning for local homes and businesses and as a clerk with a local auction company while helping with the day-to-day chores alongside Melvin on the farm. Sheila and Melvin shared 49 years together.

The couple was known for their love of Polka dance. Later in life, the couple enjoyed traveling to Florida for six months out of the year. After Melvin's passing in 2007, Sheila continued her trips south for milder weather.

Sheila loved to paint. She would paint lawn ornaments, bird houses, anything she could get her hands on. In Florida, neighbors would bring her their lawn ornaments to freshen up. Even on her last day, she was on her porch, painting.

Sheila stayed active by swimming almost daily at the local YMCA. She also loved to play cards and Bingo and enjoyed the occasional visit to the casino, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sheila was preceded in death by her husband Melvin and her parents.

Sheila is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Cheryl and Kenneth Price of Bennington, Michelle and Russ Knapp of Bennington; son and daughter-in-law, David and Julie Kroeger of Stuart, FL; six grandchildren: Andrew Price, Ryan (Gustavo Martinez) Price, Danny (Nicole) Knapp, Justin (Haley) Knapp, Derek (Morgan) Kroeger and Malorie (Ryan) Lynn; 14 great-grandchildren: Victoria Schopen, Timothy Price, Wesley Price, Jesse Price, Maximilian and Gustavo Martinez, Jennessy, Bearren and Bowdey Knapp, Olivia and Nolan Knapp, Scottie and Beau Kroeger, Beckett Lynn; brothers: Herb Mittlieder of Irvington, and Dwayne (Dori) Mittlieder of Bennington.
