Dorothy Marie Tripp, born September 20, 1945, passed away on December 22, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. A lifelong resident of the Omaha area, Dorothy built a life rooted in faith, service and devotion to the people she cherished.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Marie and John Kelly.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Don Tripp Jr.; her daughters, Anne (Rob) Kaslon, Deb (Tony) Parnigoni and Katie (Kyle) Wilson; and her beloved grandchildren, Ben, Matt, Calla and Presley. She also leaves behind her “fourth daughter,” Nicole Treves, whom she lovingly welcomed into her family.
A graduate of Notre Dame High School, Dorothy met Don shortly after and the two were married on June 11, 1966. Their marriage was anchored in their shared faith, and together they were devoted members of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fort Calhoun throughout their life together.
Dorothy deeply believed that giving back was a way of doing God’s work. She lived that conviction every day — through her service, her generosity and her unwavering commitment to helping others grow.
As the longtime leader of the Garryowen Producers 4-H Club, she guided countless young people, including her own daughters, in learning independence, leadership and citizenship. Her influence shaped numerous lives in ways that will continue for generations.
Dorothy had a remarkable green thumb and found joy in gardening, sewing and baking. Her home was always filled with the warmth of her creations and the beauty she cultivated. She loved animals from an early age and spent many years co-raising a herd of Angus cattle with her father.
Later in life, she embraced her passion for riding and treasured the hours she spent on the trails with her horse, Trigger, alongside neighbors and friends.
Dorothy’s friendships were a source of great happiness. She cherished time with her close-knit circle of girlfriends, finding laughter, support and companionship in every season of life.
Dorothy will be remembered for her faith, her kindness, her steady strength and the love she poured into her family and community. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the values she instilled.
