In Loving Memory of Carolyn J. Lewis

Born June 21, 1956 Cleveland, Ohio ~ Entered Into Rest December 27, 2025 Omaha, Nebraska

Carolyn J. Lewis, 69, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away on December 27, 2025 at Legato Eastridge in Omaha.

Carolyn was born on June 21, 1956 in Cleveland, Ohio, to Lynn and Daisy (Grant) 7Lewis. She was the second youngest of seven children. Early in her life, she lived in Ohio, Kansas, and California before eventually settling in Nebraska.

In 1976, her eldest daughter, Catherine, was born, followed by her youngest daughter, Laura, in 1982. She raised her daughters in Gothenburg, Nebraska, where school years were spent and lasting connections were formed. During that time, Carolyn developed a lifelong bond with James and Joanne McChesney, who became part of her life and remained a steady source of support for her.

She worked as a waitress at Bonnie's Swede Cafe before later becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant. She spent many years working in hospitals and nursing homes in the Gothenburg, Lincoln and Omaha areas, a role she took pride in throughout her working life.

Carolyn enjoyed making handmade cards and crafts for those she cared about at Immanuel Pathways (P.A.C.E.) She often dedicated time to creating thoughtful, personalized pieces, using her creativity as a way to connect with others and acknowledge important moments. These handmade items were one of the ways she chose to express care, offering something tangible and meaningful to the people in her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lynn and Daisy (Grant) Lewis; two infant brothers; her brothers Elwood and Chet Lewis; James McChesney, and special friend, Sherry Anderson.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Catherine Lewis and grandson Nick, of Nebraska, daughter Laura Black and husband David; grandchildren Rooster and Jack, all of Missouri, and Katerina (Zach) Johnson, of North Dakota. She is also survived by her sister Shirley Lewis; nephew Ruben (Angie) Lewis and their children Austen and Sadie, all of Nebraska; niece Anjilynn (Steven) Antonelli and children Garreth and Grant; brother Carl Lewis; sister-in-law Sandy (Chet) Lewis, all of Oklahoma; and close friends Joanne McChesney, Gene (Vicky) Lorsch and Tracy (Don) Adams.
