Wayne LeRoy Petersen, 77, passed away Feb. 14, 2026 in Sun City, Arizona. He was born May 8, 1948. His parents were Harlan & Anna (Christ) Petersen of Herman, NE. Wayne was raised in the rural Herman area & graduated from Herman High School.

He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Vietnam.

He is survived by his wife, Carol, of 33 years, daughters Tiffanie (Ben) Thompson of Omaha and Kendra (Russell) Lodge, from Lincoln. Also survived by sisters Nancy (Gary) Tama of Blair, and Karen (Tim) Swanson of Pender, Nebraska as well as several grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Family will have a military service at the Omaha National Cemetery at 14250 Schram Rd in Omaha, on May 8, 2026 at 12:30 p.m. Following this service a reception will be held at the Residence Inn at 18202 Cuming St. at 2 p.m.
