Marilyn Svendgard, a beloved mother, cherished educator, and mainstay of the Blair community, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026 at the age of 92. A visitation celebrating her life will be held at Campbell Aman Funeral Home, Blair, Nebraska on Thursday, September 24 from 6:00 to 8:00PM. Graveside services will be held Friday September 25, 2026 at 10:00AM at the Blair Cemetery. Marilyn’s family warmly invites all those who knew and loved her to join them in honoring her memory.
Born on June 19, 1934, Marilyn Faye Svendgard was a woman of compassion, intelligence, and resilience. She devoted her life to the noble profession of teaching, positively influencing countless young lives in her community through her dedication and love for education. Marilyn’s unwavering commitment to her students was evident in her tireless efforts to inspire, motivate, and mentor them to reach their full potential. Her spirit and personality left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Even in her retirement, Marilyn remained an active and cherished member of the Blair community, continuously giving of herself to others.
Marilyn leaves her loving daughter, Kathleen Knauff, who cherishes the memories of her mother's unconditional love, strength, and wisdom. Marilyn was a woman of great character who instilled in her daughter the values of kindness, perseverance, and the importance of education. Although she will be deeply missed, she will continue to live on through those whose lives she touched. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Bert and Martha Spanton, her sister Louise Stacy and her son Kendall Svendgard. In honoring Marilyn's lifelong dedication to education, the family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Blair Community Schools Foundation in her name. These contributions will help to continue Marilyn's legacy of nurturing young minds and fostering a love for learning.
