Marie Johnson, 79, of Blair, died Friday, May 8, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.
Memorial services were Monday at First Lutheran Church.
Marie Amanda Johnson was born March 19, 1919, at Bowbells, N.D. to Martin and Anna (Peterson) Johnson. As an infant, she moved to Albert Lea, Minn., where she was later confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church and was a member until transferring to First Lutheran Church in Blair in the late 1940’s.
She attended Dana College from 1944 to 1946 and received her degree in 1960. She worked faithfully at Dana College for 35 years and retired in 1979 as assistant registrar.
She was a faithful member at First Lutheran Church, in worship, choir, circle, Love Days and many other volunteer activities.
She also helped with serving coffee and cookies to residents at Good Shepherd Home.
She was a member of the Memorial Community Hospital Auxiliary and helped with the rummage sale for many years.
She is survived by her sister, Arline Nyman of Silver Bay Minn.; an uncle, Arthur Peterson of DeKalb, Ill., nephews, cousins, and special friend, Sigrid Christensen. She is preceded in death by her parents; step-mother Sena (Peterson) Johnson, and sisters Della Wineberg and Martha Clarke.
Memorials may be given to Dana College, First Lutheran Church or Good Shepherd Home.
Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair was in charge of the arrangements.
