1) Kennard Enterprise 8 July 1910
Mr. Carl Gehrk received a telegram last Sunday evening from one of the hospitals at Omaha announcing the serious illness of his wife. He immediately hired Geo. Menking to take him down in his auto and although they drove at great speed, Mrs. Gehrk died about twenty minutes before they arrived.
The remains were brought to Kennard last Monday morning and on Tuesday, at 2:00 p.m., funeral services were held at the house near Kennard in charge of Rev. Mr. Arndt of Bennington. Interment Blair Cemetery.
The Enterprise deeply sympathizes with the bereaved husband and children in the loss of a loving and devoted wife and mother.

Mrs. Henry Gehrke was buried in the Blair cemetery yesterday. She died in an Omaha hospital Sunday and the funeral was held at the farm home 7 miles southwest of town, the German minister from Bennington officiating. She was 53 years, 11 months and 24 days old and leaves a husband and eight grown children.
Note: there are some errors: the last name should be Gehrk, not Gehrke; her son was Henry; her husband was Carl. The other details match.

In Loving Remembrance of
Dora G. Gehrk,
Born July 10, 1856
Died July 3, 1910
Age 53 yrs. 11 mos. 21 days
Gone But Not Forgotten
We have lost our darling mother,
She has bid us all adieu;
She has gone to live in heaven,
And her form is lost to view.
Oh, that dear one, how we loved her!
Oh, how hard to give her up
But an angel came down for her
And removed her from our flock.

Pat Hunsche, volunteer with Washington County Genealogical Society, checked the Vig files and the Blair cemetery files to find the following:
