Mable C. Gentzler, 102, who has relatives in Blair, died Friday, Nov. 27, 1998, at the Heritage of Bel-Air Nursing Home in Norfolk.
Services were Monday, Nov. 30, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norfolk with the Rev. Scot McVey-McCluskey officiating.
Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery in Creighton.
Mable Christina Sorensen was born July 12, 1896, in Dakota County to Peter and Kristiana (Petersen) Sorensen.
She was raised on a farm near Homer. She was baptized in September 1898 and confirmed in 1913 in the Lutheran Faith at St. Paul’s (Danish) Lutheran Church in Homer.
On Jan. 10, 1924, she married Gurney Gentzler in Sioux City, Iowa.
They spent their married life in Homer, Emerson, Creighton, Neligh and Norfolk.
She is survived by a daughter, Leola Stingley of Norfolk; four sons and their wives, Dale and Eldora Gentzler of Blair, Stanley and Audrey Gentzler of Cozad, Roger and Alice Gentzler of Norfolk and Gordon and Beverly Gentzler of Tekamah; 16 grandchildren, including Tim Gentzler and Debra Hutton, both of Blair; 37 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son, four brothers, two sisters, one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
