Services for Viva A. Guyer Held Tuesday
Funeral services for Mrs. Viva A. Guyer were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, at the First United Methodist Church in Blair. Dr. Gordon L. Patterson officiated, with organist Nancy Hanson and the vocal group “Just Friends”. Graveside services were held at the Blair Cemetery. She died Saturday, March 16, at the age of 84.
Viva Alice was born July 18, 1900, at the family home five miles north of Blair to E. C. and Emma (Schmidt) Lippincott. She attended Pleasant View School and graduated from Blair High school in 1917. She attended Wayne State Teachers’ College and taught at Cuming City Schools.
She married H. Lyle Guyer September 21, 1921, and they both taught school in Dundy County, Nebraska, for one year. The couple had four children: Lyla (Mrs. Don Woodworth) of Golden, Colorado, Glen of Oceanside, California, Lee of Minnetonka, Minnesota, and Mildred (Mrs. Mark Hill) of Essex Junction, Vermont. Viva is also survived by one sister, Ruth M. Lippincott, and two brothers, Richard and Donald, 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. One brother, Clark, preceded her in death.
Viva was an active member of and judge for the Fontanelle Park Garden Club, was a member of the Blair United Methodist Church and Church Women, and she was active in the church choir, bible study and played the organ. She leaves many friends in Washington County.
Casket bearers were Bill, Jim, Tom, Gordon and John Lippincott and Kevin Wycoff. Memorials may be sent to the First United Methodist Church.
