Clara I. Hatcher, 87, of Logan, Iowa, died Monday, August 13, 2012, at Longview Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at Logan Christian Church, 205 E. Eighth St., in Logan. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, at Logan Memorial Chapel, 215 N. Fourth Ave., in Logan, with prayer services at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Biglers Grove Cemetery near Woodbine.
Clara Iona Staley was born Sept. 11, 1924, in Logan to Leonard and Thelma (Tryon) Staley.
She worked in the medical field for many years at Blair Community Hospital in Blair and Clarkson Hospital in Omaha. She retired from Missouri Valley Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa.
On Sept. 16, 1939, she married Glen Austin Hatcher.
She was a loving and devoted mother who thought each of her children were perfect.
She is survived by five daughters and sons-in-law, Luella and Lyle Andersen of Little Sioux, Iowa, Evelyn Dickinson of Omaha, Janice and Bob Seeley of Logan, Linda and Mike Ashton of Leesburg, Ga., and Genelle and Gene Wheatly of Glenwood, Iowa; son, Ronald Hatcher, and fiancée, Rita Williams, of Council Bluffs, Iowa; 27 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen, on Dec. 13, 1983; sisters, Helen McIntosh, Etta Mae Staley and Mildred Parker; brothers, William Staley and Vernon Staley; youngest son, Robert Laverne Hatcher; and grandson, Phillip Dean Hill.
