Mr. Flaake Died Suddenly
William Flaake, a well known Washington county farmer who had resided near Spiker for the past forty years, was stricken suddenly with paralysis Thursday afternoon and died before help reached him. Mr. Flaake was apparently in his usual health at noon, when he ate a hearty dinner. He went out to do some work about the place and was found dead three hours later.
He was a native of Germany and came from that country to America in 1870, when he was 25 years of age. He located on the farm in Washington county that he was still occupying at the time of his demise. He was well and favorably known.
Eleven children of which eight are daughters and three are sons, and a wife, survive Mr. Flaake. The children are Mrs. Fred Shumaker, Lodge Pole; Mrs. Conrad Belnecke, Wisner; Mrs. Gottleib Bockerman, Arapahoe; Mrs. Ed Schafersman, Telbasta; Mrs. Frank Kruger, Fontanelle; Mrs. Ed Boschutte, Telbasta; Misses Clara and Ella and Fred, William and Edward, who are still residing at home.
The funeral was held Monday, services taking place at the residence at 11 a.m. and at the church at Telbasta at 1 p.m. Interment was made in the Telbasta cemetery.
