Viva Underwood Taken By Death
Rites Held Wednesday Afternoon For Tuberculosis Victim
Mrs. Viva Polmantier Underwood, daughter of Ray Haynes of Blair, died late Monday afternoon at the home of her grandfather, Charles Haynes, sr., east of Blair after a siege of tuberculosis. She was 27 years old.
As Viva Haynes, she was born near Blair January 5, 1907, and attended the Blair schools. She was married first to Darrell Polmantier, and after his death, to Curtis Underwood. Surviving are her husband, her daughter, Patricia Ann; her father, Ray Haynes; and the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Haynes, sr. A brother, Charles, jr., and a sister Mrs. Clark Sutherland, both of Blair, also mourn her departure. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Bendorf Funeral Home, with Rev. T. J. Reese officiating. The body was then taken to Tekamah for interment.
