Neil West, 53, Died Saturday
Neil West, 53-year-old farmer residing southeast of Blair, passed away last Saturday, June 8th at the Leptin Nursing Home in Blair. He had been in failing health for a number of months.
Mr. West, prior to taking up farming a number of years ago, was a mechanic at a Blair garage and it was in this work that he became known to hundreds in this vicinity.
Neil Eugene West was born November 11, 1903 at Herman, Nebraska and has spent his entire life in Washington County. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sam West, of Herman.
On December 12, 1923, he was married to Miss Gertrude Stricklett, the ceremony being performed at Council Bluffs. The couple returned to Blair to make their home following their marriage.
He is survived by his wife and by two sons, Gail West and Jim West, both of Blair. Three sisters also survive as well as three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. H. C. Jorgensen conducting the service. Burial was made in the Blair Cemetery under the direction of the Campbell Mortuary.
