Widow Of Onetime Blair Harness Dealer Dies; Funeral Is Saturday
Mrs. Katherine Verlautz, 88, onetime Blairite and widow of August Verlautz, a Blair harness dealer, died yesterday at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha. She had resided in Omaha since 1904.
The funeral will be held at the Kremer Funeral Home in Benson at 2 p.m. Saturday. Burial will follow in Blair Cemetery.
Katherine Leikauf was born in Cincinnati, O., Aug. 26, 1865, and married Mr. Verlautz in December, 1887. The couple resided here after their marriage. In 1904 Mr. Verlautz sold his harness shop to Gus Scheffler and the family moved to Fort Dodge, Ia., then to Omaha. He died in August, 1920.
Surviving Mrs. Verlautz are a son, Alvert Verlautz of Rapid City, S. D.; two daughters, Mrs. C. C. Critchfield (Edna) and Mrs. Lawrence Homan (Helen), both of Omaha; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
