MRS. CHRISTINA WIDENER BURIED TUESDAY

Funeral services were held at the First Lutheran Church in Blair on Tuesday August 27 for Mrs. Christina Widener. The Rev. George Palleson officiated.

Christina Sorensen was born January 9, 1888 at Arlington, Nebr. She was the last surviving member of a family of four children born to Paul and Maria Sorensen.

On October 3, 1906 she was united in marriage to Robert L. Widener. To this union four children were born. Her husband and two sons John and Paul preceded her in death. Survivors are a son Howard of Herman, a daughter (Ruth) Mrs. Walter Jahnel of Tekamah, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Marjorie Johnson of Omaha, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Widener spent her entire life in Washington and Burt counties. She had been in ill health for many years and passed away on Friday August 23 at the Crowell Memorial Home in Blair where she had lived the past nine months.

Interment was made in the Blair Cemetery under the direction of the Campbell Mortuary.

Mrs. Widener’s nephews, Alfred Hansen, Don, Harry and Clark Sorensen, Arnold and Marlin Matzen were pallbearers.
