Leona Wilson, 91

Leona Wilson, 91, of Columbus, formerly of the Herman area, died Wednesday, July 15, 1998, at Columbus Community Hospital.

Services were Saturday, July 18, 1998, at Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus with Rev. Michael V. Klatt and Rev. Ernest G. Smith officiating.

Burial was in the Roselawn Cemetery in Columbus.

Leona Borgelt was born Feb. 25, 1907, at Dodge to Fred and Augusta (Werbelow) Borgelt. She attended parochial school in Snyder.

They lived and farmed in many areas including Herman, Palmer, Murdock and Louisville.

She worked for many years in Fremont as a beautician.

She moved to Columbus in 1974.

In 1993, she received the Resident Volunteer of the Year Award at the Colonial Manor in Clarkson. In 1994, she received the Resident Volunteer Award for the Region V of Beverly Enterprises. In 1996, she received the Resident of the Month Award at the Columbus Manor.

She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus and the Ladies Aid in Palmer.

She is survived by two daughters, Carol Bignell and Jan Cook, both of Columbus; one sister, Laura Kohlmeyer of Tavaras, Fla., six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Martin; her parents; five brothers and four sisters.

Memorials are suggested to Peace Lutheran Church or the donor’s choice.

McKown Funeral Home in Columbus was in charge of arrangements.
