Former Arlington Lady Died In Alabama

Word has been received by relatives here of the death of Mrs. Rhoda Winther, former resident of this area. Her death occurred in a nursing home in Brewton, Alabama, on Friday, November 30. Mrs. Winther was the former Rhoda Spangler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Spangler. She was born July 31, 1899, in Ohio and came to Washington County, Nebraska, with her family in 1900. She attended the Arlington Schools, graduating from high school in 1917. She attended Midland College and was a teacher in the county schools for several years. She was married to Holger Winther in 1924. They lived in Fremont, Nebraska, until 1971, when they moved to Brewton, Alabama. Mr. Winther passed away in 1972.

Mrs. Winther is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Winther of Brewton, Alabama, two sisters, Mrs. C. A. Menking of Arlington, Nebr., and Mrs. Edith French, of Whittier, Calif., one brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Spangler of Omaha; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Hazel Ludwig of Arlington; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and burial were in Brewton, Alabama, on December 1, 1973.
