Verna M. Totten, 94, of Fremont died Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Nye Legacy Health & Rehab in Fremont.
Services will be 11 a.m.Wednesday, February 6, at Salem Lutheran Church in Fontanelle. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
Verna M. Wendt was born December 27, 1918, on a farm near Winside to Fred A. and Bertha E. (Voss) Wendt.
She grew up in Blair and graduated from Blair High School in 1937. She worked as a telephone operator until her marriage on May 15, 1939 to Donald Totten in Tekamah.
She enjoyed reading and playing cards.
She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Fontanelle.
Mr. Totten died on July 30, 1991.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Barbara Totten of Fort Calhoun and Steven and Julie Totten of Fremont; four grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; three brothers and one step-grandson.
Memorials may be directed to Salem Lutheran Church in Fontanelle or the Nickerson Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad.
