Opal M. Schafer, 75, of Omaha died Thurs., Sept. 22, 2005 in Omaha. Her funeral was Sat., Sept. 24 at Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home in Fremont. Interment was at Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Opal M. Schafer was born Dec. 15, 1929 in Harlan, Iowa. She married Elmer Schafer who preceded her in death in 1972.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Robert Welchert, Jr.; sons and daughter-in-law, Franklin and Melana Schafer and Lawrence Schafer; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and John Aulner; a brother, Ivan Jensen; and nieces and nephews.
