Services for Glenn L. Makings, 71 who had been in failing health and died at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte December 14, 1993 were Saturday, December 18 at the Ogallala First Church of God with Pastors Neva Murphy and John Cemer officiating. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery on December 20.
Glenn L. Makings, the oldest of two children was born at Cornell near Trenton, Nebraska December 12, 1992 to Weaver and Grace Perkins Makings. The family moved to Hartsel, Colorado when he was a young boy. He attended school at Hartsel and graduated with the Class of 1940.
He moved back to Trenton in 1941 and married Marjorie Cemer, the daughter of the late Sam and Mary Cemer, October 1, 1944, at Trenton. They lived in Trenton until 1953 when they moved to Grant, Nebraska.
He began working for Pat Rothenberger in the Ford Garage and continued there after the McCormick’s took over the ownership. He retired in 1984.
He was an active member of the First Church of God in Ogallala.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Grant; one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Mary Makings of Yankton, South Dakota; one daughter, Carol Styles of North Platte, six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Laura Lee Oldham of Lynchburg, Virginia; many other relatives and friends.
Casket bearers were Greg Styles, Tim Styles, Bill Shively, Don Murphy, Joe Sukraw and Steve Makings.
Mike Wheatly proved the music.
Bullock Long Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
