WPA TIMEKEEPER, ELMER PATE DIES
HEART ATTACK AT WORK TODAY FATAL TO MR. PATE, 62, BLAIRITE 39 YEARS
Elmer Pate, 62, timekeeper for the WPA here, died suddenly this morning while at work on the site of the east Grant street paving project. Heart trouble was given as the cause of death.
Mr. Pate came to Blair in 1901 from Kentucky. His present home was at 320 east State street.
Surviving are his wife, Mary; two daughter, Miss Ida Knox of Blair and Mrs. Herbert Nelson of Underwood, Iowa; and two grandchildren, both of Underwood.
The body was removed to the Campbell mortuary. Funeral services had not been arranged at noon.

ELMER PATE
Elmer Pate, a resident of Blair since 1901, died suddenly on the morning of July 25 of a heart attack. He had gone to work as timekeeper on the WPA but before the day’s work started he was gone.
Deceased was born in Custer, Kentucky on November 17, 1877 where he grew to manhood and where in his early manhood he taught school. Coming here in 1901 he followed various occupations, and on September 6, 1911 he was married to Mrs. Mary Knox.
He leaves his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Herbert Nelson of Underwood, Iowa and two grandchildren and one stepdaughter, Miss Ida Knox, to mourn his death.
Funeral services were held last Sunday at the local Baptist church of which he was a member, with Rev. C. E. Hamilton officiating, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.
