Harry Schmidt, 75
Harry Edward Richard Schmidt of Omaha and formerly of Bennington was born September 20, 1914 to Hans and Johannah Schmidt at Fort Calhoun.
He married Caroline Friedrichsen February 12, 1941, at Bennington, and they farmed at Fort Calhoun and Bennington until October, 1969.
Since then, they lived in Omaha, where he worked at the Nebraska Furniture Mart until retirement three years ago.
Survivors include his wife Caroline; son Ronald and his wife Patsy of Elkhorn; daughter Marcia and husband Richard Hoban of Omaha; one grandson, Matt Schmidt of Aberdeen, South Dakota; two sisters, Amanda Harder of Elkhorn and Alma Wiese of Missouri Valley, Iowa, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven sisters, one brother, and one granddaughter.
Funeral services were held November 2, 1989, at Swanson Funeral Home in Elkhorn; Rev. John Pierson officiated.
Pallbearers were William Japp, Floyd Schmidt, Leonard Schmidt and Melvin Schmidt.
Interment was at the German Cemetery near Bennington.
