Mary Jane Payne, 76

Mary Jane Payne, 76, died Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at her home in Blair.

Funeral services and interment will be Saturday, June 11, at Mt. Moriah Terrace Park in Kansas City North, Mo.

Mary Jane “Janie” Payne was born Oct. 28, 1928, in South Sioux City to Glenn and Virginia Belle (Miller) Merriman. She attended school through the 10th grade in Tekamah.

On July 16, 1948, she married Ernest Elwood Payne in Miami, Okla. Mrs. Payne was a housewife and mother. Her passions were bowling and tending to family life. Her hobbies included raising roses and crossword puzzles. She always had time for a game of cards with her family members and friends.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Tom Andersen of Glendale, Ariz., Cindy and Kenny Dover of Bucyrus, Kan. and Vicki Rockford of Iatan, Mo.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; sisters and brother-in-law, Betty June “Honey” Hovendick of Fremont, and Madarta and Ray Barger of Tekamah; brother and sisters-in-law, Glen A. and Doris Merriman of Millard, Mary Anne Olson of Oak Grove, Ore., and Lois Robinson of Tekamah, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; brothers, Harry, Charles, Phillip and Larry Merriman; and son-in-law, Bennie Rockford.

Memorials are suggested to the Herman Community Church Building Fund.
