Alberta K. Jurgens, 88, of Fremont, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont. Interment will be at Union Cemetery near Cedar Bluffs.
Visitation will 4-8 p.m., Sunday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
Alberta K. Hoffmann was born August 29, 1925, on a farm near Colon to Albert C. and Helen (Daberkow) Hoffmann.
She grew up on a farm between Colon and Cedar Bluffs. She attended high school in Cedar Bluffs, graduating in 1943.
After graduation she moved to Fremont and was a nurse’s aid at the Fremont Hospital for four years.
On March 17, 1946, she married Dale W. Jurgens at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Cedar Bluffs. They later divorced.
She lived in several towns in Nebraska including North Bend from 1964 to 1968 and Hastings, where she was a nurse’s aid at various hospitals and nursing homes. She returned to Fremont in 1981. She was a nurse’s aid intermittently for 35 years for Home Health Care.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont and was active in quilting and other organizations in the church. She also was involved with the Stanton Tower Community Club.
She is survived by a son-in-law Arthur “Bud” Eller of Bellevue; grandson Benjamin and wife Kristi Eller of Bellevue; granddaughters: Mary and husband Brent Aldridge of Aberdeen, S.D., Rachael and husband James Duff of Grand Island and Kathryn Eller of Bellevue; niece Beverly Greunke of Arlington; and 6 great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son Gary Jurgens; daughter Nancy Eller; two brothers, Fred Hoffmann and Wilfred Hoffmann; two sisters, Esther Royuk and Irene Giesselmann.
