Richard Benjamin Mead, son of Beatrice Dinkel Mead and the late Benjamin Mead, died in Denver, Colorado, August 14, 1995 following a lengthy radiation illness.

He had been a photographer for the on-going atomic blasts at the Hanford Nuclear Test site for the government.

The Meads were former residents of Fort Calhoun and had been employed by the school there.
