Walter E. Meierhenry, 98

Walter E. Meierhenry, 98, of Fremont, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, in the Hooper care Center of Hooper.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, in the Calvary United Methodist Church in Fremont. Interment will be in the Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont, and at the church, one hour prior to services.

Walter E. Meierhenry was born Aug. 17, 1904, in Washington County to Henry and Frieda (Schmidt) Meierhenry.

He grew up and farmed in Washington County. He moved to Fremont in 1951, and lived on North Irving Street. He continued farming until 1960, then joined the custodial staff of Fremont High School and the Lincoln Elementary School.

On Jan. 8, 1930, he married Gladys Irene Smith in the parsonage of the Telbasta Church in Washington County.

Mr. Meierhenry was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Fremont.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Carole Meierhenry of Phoenix, Ariz., one grandson, and a sister, Ethel Smith of Hooper.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys, and a sister, Hattie.

Memorials are suggested to the Calvary United Methodist Church.

Ludvigsen Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
