Mrs. Fanny McCoy Passes Away At Arlington

Mrs. Fanny McCoy, well and favorable known throughout the county, passed away at her home in Arlington last Friday evening, age 88 years and 21 days.

Some time ago Mrs. McCoy received injuries from which she never fully recovered. She went to sleep in her chair a few evenings previous to her death and was gently put in her bed, where she continued to sleep until death released her spirit.

Mrs. McCoy had been a resident of Arlington for thirty-five years and was greatly esteemed by all who knew her. She was the mother of fourteen children, seven of whom survive her. Her husband was called to rest a number of years ago and since then she had spent considerable time with them. The children are: Mrs. Lizzie Gray of Wheatland, Wyo., Mrs. Anna Moore, Lincoln; Lewis McCoy, Snyder, Colo.; Chas. and Roy McCoy, Arlington; Mrs. Fanny Reader, Mitchell, S.D., and Mrs. Henry Mencke, of Blair, all of whom with the exception of Lewis, were in attendance at the funeral obsequies, which were held from the Congregational church at Arlington on Sunday. She is also survived by 33 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.

#2-11 Oct., 1922 - The Pilot - Fanny McCoy

Mrs. Henry Mencke’s mother, Mrs. Fanny McCoy, died at her home in Arlington last Friday, and the funeral was held at the Congregational church at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. Davies officiating. Fanny Wilson was born in Galesburg, Ill. September 16th, 1834, and when a child she went with her parents to Creighton, Ill. where she grew to womanhood and was married there to D. T. McCoy April 27th, 1853. He died in 1887, and Mrs. McCoy came to this county, and has since made her home in Arlington near which place her two sons, Roy and Chas. live. She leaves one other son, Louis of Snyder, Colo. Also four daughters, Mrs. R. B. Gray of Wheatland, Wyo.; Mrs. Anna Moore of Lincoln; Mrs. W. H. Reader of Mitchell, S.D.; and Mrs. Henry Mencke of this city.

ESTEEMED LADY PASSES ON

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at two o’clock at the Congregational church in Arlington for Mrs. Fanny McCoy, mother of Mrs. Henry Mencke of this city. Mrs. McCoy passed away on Friday evening, Oct. 6, at the advanced age of 88 years and 21 days.

She had been a resident of Arlington for thirty five years, and was well known to a number of Blair people, having visited at the home of Her daughter here many times.

She leaves to mourn her passing seven children of a family of fourteen. They are Mrs. Lizzie Gray of Wheatland, Wyo.; Mrs. Anna Moor of Lincoln; Mrs. Fanny Reeder of Mitchell, S.D.; Louis McCoy of Colo.; Charles and Roy McCoy of Arlington and Mrs. Henry Mencke of Blair.

There are also thirty three grandchildren, thirty four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Interment was made in the Arlington cemetery.
