SERVICES HELD IN ARLINGTON FOR S. THOMAS DOWELL

Services were held at the Arlington Community Church on Tuesday, December 20, for Seth Thomas Dowell who died Friday, December 16, 1977, at Arbor Manor in Fremont, at the age of 90. The Reverend Bryce Hecht officiated.

Masonic Graveside Services were conducted by Hiram Lodge No. 52, A.F. & A.M. of Arlington. Interment was in the Arlington Cemetery.

Seth Thomas Dowell was born January 28, 1887, in Garfield, Kentucky to Ezra and Creasy Ann Woods Dowell. He married M. Maude Bullock in Garfield, Kentucky on December 25, 1914. They came to Nebraska in 1919 and lived at Washington, Nebraska for two years before moving to Arlington.

He retired in 1972 at the age of 85, having been a bookkeeper for Marshall Nurseries in Arlington until that time. He was a member of Arlington Community Church, Arlington Community Club and a 55 year member of Hiram Lodge No. 52 A.F. & A. M. He served as treasurer of Hiram Lodge for over 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, M. Maude Bullock, who died April 29, 1976.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Clifford (Phyllis) Kepler of Lincoln; and one granddaughter, Kay Lynn Kepler, Lincoln. One brother, Nathan Dowell, Peotone, Illinois, also survives him.

Mrs. Charles House was organist for the services. Mrs. Jack Cady sang “The Lord’s Prayer,” and “How Great Thou Art.” The congregation sang “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.”

Pallbearers for the services were Ed Baker, Gordon Spangler, Dick Schlapfer, Howard Edmondson, Virgil Frye and Walter Martens.

Honorary Pallbearers were Dr. Jack Cady, Dr. David Bloch, Clarence Rockwell, Henry Meador, Alfred Baker, Leonard Marshall, Bud Gaines, Richard Melvard, and Avery Haynes.

A memorial fund has been established for the Arlington Community Church.

Reckmeyer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for the services.
