Blair. Survived by his children, daughter JoEll Mazen and son Luke Matzen of Omaha; brothers, George (Chrissy) Matzen of Milford, NE, Jim (Donna) Matzen of Washington State; sister Maren (Bill) Jorgensen of Blair; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
MEMORIAL SERVICE 11am Saturday at Grace Methodist Church in Kennard. VISITATION prior to service at the Church beginning at 10am. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Kennard Fire Department and Rescue Squad.

Gerald “Jake” Harvey Matzen, 65, of Blair died Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Carter House in Blair.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at Grace Methodist Church in Kennard. Visitation will be prior to services at the church beginning at 10 a.m.
Gerald “Jake” Matzen was born Aug. 3, 1948, in Fremont to George Emil and Marjorie Ellen (Gehrk) Matzen.
He attended LeCrone, Kennard and Blair schools.
He worked as an auto mechanic in his early career and then as a skilled union mason.
In 1984, he married Sheri Anderson at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Kennard. To this union two children were born: JoEll in 1986 and Luke in 1993. The couple later divorced.
He enjoyed fishing, and especially his fishing trips to Canada.
He is survived by his children: daughter JoEll Olevea Matzen and son Luke Anderson Matzen of Omaha; brothers: George Henry (Christina) Matzen of Milford and Jim Emil (Donna) Matzen of Washington State; sister Maren Louise (Bill) Jorgensen of Blair; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Kennard Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
